by Nancy Hogan Neill, DRES System wordsmith & marketing assistant

Early in 2013, I was very happy to be able to complete the DRES System training offered by Margaret Spencer! I would like to share a few of my personal “Aha!” moments because I believe that others who consult with a DRES System Certified Personal Stylist, or become stylists themselves, will also experience these insights.

First: While I had completed the two-day classroom segment, I had not yet organized my own closet. This effectively kept me from buying anything the next time I had to shop. My DRES System training helped me save money on unwise purchases right away!

Second: Once I had organized my closet and was ready to shop for what I needed, immediately I recognized how knowing my best colors saved me time. Also, knowing that yellow is not my friend, but that mustard is, helped me pick better coordinating pieces and accessories in complementary colors.

Third: As an Emerald, knowing which silhouettes in shirts and pants are best for me was another time saver. Along with this, note that I did not include skirts or dresses. The DRES System is entirely flexible when it comes to those of us with a style preference for pants vs. skirts. The exception? My new DRESwear sheath, Emerald style in charcoal and ivory, of course!

These insights made me even more excited to complete my training so I can share my knowledge to help future clients.
